Bog Bean
We enjoyed a gorgeous Sunday walk yesterday at the Moat in Elstead, Surrey and my pond-dipping leaflet came in handy as we spotted some bog bean and sedge. We also spotted some little lizards in all colours, some Brimstone butterflies, a colony of busy wood ants and a great bit fat-and-hairy caterpillar.
The long-awaited pond dipping leaflet is coming this week, with words from Callum Dunbar and packed with interesting titbits about pond life and wetland plant life. It'll be on sale from the June Pop-up Shop at Hamilton House, celebrating Big Green Week, and from my website.
Here's a sneak peak of a handsome heron and his favourite breakfast - a newt.
